Road — gravel/stone trackway — peatland in Derrygarrane North

Two stretches of a stone trackway are exposed in areas of peat-cutting in an extensive tract of bog on the lower S slopes of Knocklomena mountain. The first is located N of the stream which flows from Lough Fadda to join the Kealduff river. It survives as a carefully constructed, 86m long, stretch which runs N-S. Measuring up to 1.5m wide, it is paved with large flat slabs with smaller square stones near its centre. It disappears beneath peat at both ends. The second stretch of trackway occurs approximately 100m to N. It is intermittently visible over a distance of 200m and curves from N, to SW, to S. It is poorly preserved, particularly at N, and averages .9m wide. Small slabs are placed upright to form an edging at some points along its length. The above description is derived from A.
