What is recorded here

In rough pasture on a mantle of bog, on a terrace on the N-facing lower slopes of Mullaghanattin. The remains of a D-shaped hut site (3.5m N-S) defined by a partially grass-covered drystone wall (T 0.8m; H 0.45m) with a straight S side (L 2.4m). There is an entrance (Wth 0.45m) at NE. The S portion of the interior is raised (H 0.2m) and the N portion is cut (D 0.3m) into the upslope to compensate for the hillslope. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
