What is recorded here

In rough hill grazing on bog and abutting the enclosure (KE081-027----) at SE. The remains of a relict field boundary (T c. 0.5m; H c. 0.55m), which protrudes above the surface of bog, extends from the SE arc of the enclosure for a distance of c. 34m to a stream at SE. The relict wall is composed of large slabs set end-on and smaller slabs set at right angles to the line of the wall. A relict field boundary (KE081-027002-), noted in the 1990s on the N side of the enclosure (SMR file), is no longer visible at ground level. (O'Sullivan and Sheehan 1996, 411, no. 1355) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
