What is recorded here

Located in the NE quadrant of ecclesiastical enclosure KE078-009004-, are the foundations of a roughly square building. Some external and internal wall facing survives and the structure measures c. 4.4m N-S x 4.2m E-W internally, with walls up to .95m thick. An entrance gap, 1.55m wide, occurs midway along the W wall and within the N wall are the remains of a possible wall-niche. About 1m outside the S wall is a parallel revetment, 4.7m long and about .7m high, formed of large slab set on edge. The above description is derived from O'Sullivan, A. and Sheehan, J. (compilers) 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University press. (1996), no. 940. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 11 June 2013
