What is recorded here

In rocky mountain heath (191m), on a NE-facing slope. Excellent views of Behy river valley to NE with Seefin and Droum Mountains in background. A smooth and unfractured sandstone boulder (dims. 0.4m NW-SE; 0.38m NE-SW; H 0.12m) which is roughly square in plan. It has a subcircular decorated surface (dims. 0.31m NW-SE; 0.24m NE-SW) which is generally flat with a slight S-facing tilt. The decorated surface bears fifteen cupmarks (average diam. 4cm; D 3-5mm). Seven of these cupmarks form an inner ring (overall diam. 0.16m N-S; 0.21m E-W) that encloses a roughly circular area (dims. 8cm N-S; 13cm E-W). Eight of the cupmarks form an outer ring (dims. 0.31m NW-SE; 0.24m NE-SW), some being close to the edge of the decorated surface. Rock art (KE071-156001-) is c. 0.2m to SE, a small dry valley is adjacent to SE. Compiled by: Alison McQueen and Vera Rahilly Date of upload: 18 July 2017
