Rock art in Teeromoyle

Located to W of KE070-113----, in the same field, this boulder has a stepped upper surface and measures 2.18m x .75m in overall dimensions. On the lower plane are a number of linear grooves, a ring and eight cupmarks. Three of the cupmarks occur at intersections of the grooves. Occurring on the upper plane is a single cupmark and traces of an enclosing ring (information: A. Purcell). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Date of upload: 30 July 2013 In mountain pasture (248m OD), on a steep S-facing slope, on the lower slopes of Teeromoyle mountain; Good views of the River Ferta valley to S and W. A farm road is c. 28m to W and a field fence is c. 25-30m to N. A smooth, generally flat, sandstone boulder (dims. 2.40m NE-SW; 0.74m NW-SE; max. H 1.10m) having deep fractures/fissures filled with moss and grasses. The decorated surface is rectangular (dims. 0.74m NW-SE; 0.67m NE-SW) having weathered yet traceable motifs. Eight cupmarks (diam. 4-7cm; D 4-6mm). The two smaller cupmarks at SE edge of decorated surface are deeper (D 6mm). An isolated cupmark (diam. 7cm; D 4mm) is on a higher ledge (H 0.35m) at NE side of decorated surface. A linear groove (dims. L 61cm NW-SE; Wth 1cm; D 3mm) traverses width of stone and there is a cupmark (diam. 7cm) incorporated into its SW side; A faint radial groove (dims. L 13cm NE-SW; Wth 1-1.5cm) extends from SW side. A curvilinear groove (L 26cm NE-SW) extends at a right angle to NE side of main linear groove and terminates at base of previously mentioned ledge.
