In pasture, on a gentle NE-facing slope, with views SE to The Paps of Dana. A circular area (diam. 34m) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 3.7m; int. H 0.65m; ext. H 2.2m) SW-NE, by a low grass-covered eroded bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.8m) NE-SE and by a scarp SE-SW. Traces of an external fosse are evident WSW-WNW. There is a possible causeway entrance (Wth 4.2m) at E. Mounds of earth are evident in the NW quadrant. Field boundaries abut the perimeter externally at NW and NNE and skirt the rath SSE-SSW. A large prostrate stone and an adjacent depression in the SE quadrant may mark the location of a souterrain (KE068-001002-). There is a possible children's burial ground (KE068-001003-) in the NW quadrant. This is the 'black-fort' recorded in the 1940s in Thomas Daly's land (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry).
