What is recorded here

In pasture, on a N-facing slope and c. 450m SW of a bend in the Flesk River. A raised circular area (diam. 32m) defined by a low discontinuous bank of earth and stone (Wth 4.4m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.5m) with intervening short stretches of scarp, especially along the S arc. The external face of the bank is being eroded at N. Intermittent faint traces of a depression externally may indicate a fosse. The interior, in pasture, slopes down gently to the N. There is a cattle break (Wth 1.2m) in the bank at W. Another rath (KE067-031----) lies c. 90m to the WNW. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011
