What is recorded here

In pasture, with views S to Mangerton Mountain. A slightly raised (H c. 0.2m) D-shaped area (dims. 40m NNW-SSE) with a straight SE side (L 40m) is known locally as a 'cillín' and contains plain stone grave-markers (H c. 0.25m). The straight side is incorporated into a field boundary. This may be the 'burial ground for children' recorded in the N side of the townland in the 1840s (OSNB, Killarney, no. 1, 7). Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011
