During the course of an archaeological impact assessment carried out by Laurence Dunne Archaeology in advance of a proposed facility to deposit benign waste material, test excavations were carried out in October 2017. Seven test trenches were opened and burnt mount material consisting of heat shattered stones and charcoal enriched soil was discovered in trench 2. The extent of the burnt mound material was determined to be 12m NE-SW by 10m NW-SE. The minimum depth of the material was c. 0.15m.
