An ogham stone was found in the NW corner of Aghadoe church (KE066-016002-) in 1804, and was described as being about 7 feet in length and possibly longer (Wright 1822, 74-5). It was of 'rough stone of the brown mountain kind' and its inscription was read as 'GGVVSS MN ' (Macalister 1902, 58). The stone was moved to the garden of Aghadoe House where a sketch was made of it in 1831 by Lady Chatterton and by which time it had been broken (Macalister 1945, 238). It was subsequently returned to Aghadoe church but its present location is not known. A second ogham stone (L 1.5m; Wth 0.7m; T 0.18m) is embedded horizontally into, and slightly raised above, the upper surface of the rebuilt S wall of the chancel (see KE066-016009-). It is broken into three pieces and has been repaired with cement. The site of an ogham stone (see KE066-016005-) is indicated on the 1939 OS 6-inch map, c. 50m SSW of the ruins of Aghadoe church. However, it is not clear which of the two ogham stones this refers to. It may even be that these two are one and same stone.
