What is recorded here

At the centre of a rath (KE059-007----). The remains of a circular hut (diam. c. 6m) defined by a bank (Wth 1.2m; H 0.4m). Two hollows in the E arc of the bank may mark the entrance to a souterrain (KE059-007001-). In the 1940s the hut was described as a 'Grianaun, about 60ft [18.29m] in circumference, and 15ft [4.57m] in diameter' and 'marked with large stones' (ITA). This hut is indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011
