What is recorded here

A road bridge (Wth c. 5.3m; long axis N-S), built of random rubble sandstone, spanning the Gweestin River. Two semicircular arches (span 4.4m) with roughly shaped voussoirs. There is a low pointed cutwater on the upstream side of the pier (Wth 1.1m) and a low projecting plinth on the downstream side. Corbels project from both faces of the bridge and also occur on the sides of the abutments. The parapets have concrete coping. Iron braces have been inserted through the body of the bridge. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011
