What is recorded here

In pasture, on a SE-facing slope. A raised circular area (c. 28m N-S) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner earth and stone bank (int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1.15m) is evident all round. The intervening U-shaped fosse is covered with overgrowth and stones are dumped along it at irregular intervals. The outer bank (ext. H 1.35m) is best preserved SW-SE with only a slight trace visible SE-SW. The raised interior, which slopes down to the SE, is concave and uneven. There is a possible entrance in the inner and outer banks at SE and a cattle gap in the inner bank at ENE. There are also breaks in the outer bank at NW, NNW and WSW and cattle gaps at NE and ENE. Another rath (KE058-041----) lies c. 150m to the NNW. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork.
