What is recorded here

A report of an outing by the Kerry Field Club from 1945 (MCKFC Vol. 1, 624-5) stated that they also inspected a fort (KE057-139---) with souterrrain in Kilderry wood. 'The souterrains in this are open but much damaged. They are made of large rough flagstones not far underground'. The extent of Kilderry Wood is indicated on the 1895 ed. OS 6-inch map but there is no known fort within it. The precise location of this ringfort with possible souterrain within Kilderry Wood has not been identified. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
