What is recorded here

Internal diam. 16m E-W This poorly preserved univallate rath is located in pasture adjacent to the S bank of the Laune. A NW-SE field boundary bisects the site, and no trace survives of the enclosing element on its W side. Elsewhere the bank, which is composed of earth and stone, is preserved to an average external height of 1.8m and is 1m wide. Dense overgrowth extends over the bank into the apparently featureless interior. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 462. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 28 July 2013
