Foley (1907, 111) noted that 'on Glens mountain are to be found a remarkable pile of druidical stones, where tradition says ancient chiefs dispensed justice'. Glan mountain (308 feet/94m) lies between Minard and Kilmurry on the N side of Dingle Bay. No traces of a megalithic tomb or other feature of archaeological interest could be found on the hill, and it is probable that Foley was referring to a natural outcrop of rock which is located about 1 mile (1.6km) to N in the same townland. This is known locally as Carrignacourty/ Carraig na Cúirte (OS maps; An Seabhac 1939, 167), and a court was reputedly convened here in ancient times.
