The circular univallate enclosure marked on the 2nd edition of the OS map is now only faintly discernible. The W sector of the enclosure is marked by a curve in the NW-SE field boundary which abuts the site. The remainder of the perimeter is defined by a very low bank and slight traces of an external fosse. The presence of the latter suggests that this site was a rath and not a cashel. It is c. 32m in diameter. A souterrain was discovered when the site was being levelled about 7 or 8 years ago (local information). It consisted of a passage and at least 2 chambers. The passage was constructed of upright slabs and roofed by a series of flat lintels. The chambers resembled 'underground beehive huts' and each was roofed by a single flat slab. One of the entrances was formed by a porthole slab.
