What is recorded here

Listonavally/Lios Tón an Bhaile: This circular univallate enclosure, c. 26m in diameter, is defined partly by a very low bank, partly by a low scarp, the interior being raised up to 1.5m above the external ground level, and partly by a modern field wall which preserves the line of the original bank. There is reputed to be a souterrain here, possibly that described in the OSL as consisting of several chambers and passages and as being located within a circular hut foundation in a destroyed rath. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 614. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 7 August 2013
