The information available for these 'Gallauns' is confused. Two stones are shown on the 1st edition of the OS map, a small semi-circular enclosure on the 2nd edition, and 3 standing stones on the OS 25-inch map. Macalister (1899, 219-20) reported that they had disappeared, while Curran (c. 1911) described 2 stones 'about 2 feet (.6m) apart and forming part of the fence also'.
The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 164. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
