This is the original location of the ogham stone (Present location KE048-070001) that was recorded in 1986 as then lying on the S bank of a ringfort (KE048-070----) where it had been placed by the landowner who had purchased it some two years previously: he noted that it originally came from in or near the circular enclosure (KE049-101----) (Castleisland survey records, SMR file). An account of this stone was published by Lynch (1908) and included by Macalister in his corpus (1945, no. 248). The stone measures 0.67m x 0.33m x 0.31m but according to Lynch (ibid., 279) it was considerably larger and was broken at the base. The inscription as read by Macalister (ibid., 243 from the account published by Lynch 1908) is as follows:
