A possible souterrain uncovered in Kilsarkan graveyard c. 1980 was described in 1987 by the Castleisland District Archaeological Survey as follows; 'According to local information the church [KE049-086001-] and graveyard [KE049-086002-] were cleaned up for mass about 5 or 6 years ago. A 'Cave' was uncovered behind one of the old tomb stones at that time. It was infilled with old stones. According to local information a single tombstone is located immediately inside the gate of the graveyard. Two tombstones are situated close together while a third lies to the southwest of these two. The 'Cave' was located behind the latter’ (SMR File).
