In pasture, on a N-facing slope. A roughly circular area (c. 25.5m N-S) defined by a partially levelled bank (int. H 0.6m) E-NNE with an external fosse (D 0.5m) ESE-WNW. The bank is low externally. The interior slopes down to the N and is truncated at NE by a trackway. According to local information, the rath was levelled in the 1950s. It was indicated on the 1846 OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 50m) truncated at N by an E-W field boundary and on the 1897 OS 6-inch map as a roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) just S of the E-W field boundary and truncated NE-E by a NNW-SSE trackway. This rath is probably one of the three forts in Boolacullane that are mentioned in the 1840s as 'Lissnacrath, Lissoughter, and the other not known by any particular name' (OSNB, Molahiffe, no. 1, 20). There is a standing stone (KE048-086----) c. 90m to the SSE. (Castleisland District Archaeological Survey)
