What is recorded here

In a wet area, at the base of a N-facing slope. A partially overgrown roughly horseshoe-shaped mound (11.8m NW-SE; 9.1m NE-SW; H 0.75m) of burnt material with the opening (c. 4.3m NW-SE) facing SW (CDAS). Subsequent to the site inspection, archaeological test trenching, in advance of a proposed housing development, revealed that the dimensions of the fulacht fia were 12m N-S x 10m E-W and 1m in height and that the mound lay directly on peat (Kiely 2004a, 215-16).
