In 1986 the Castleisland District Archaeological Survey recorded that according to local landowner there was situated immediately to the N of Currans Castle (KE048-003001-) a site that about 25-30 [c. 1956-61] years the landowner, discovered steps leading down into a small area, which he thought was used for for storing butter. The area is now filled in' (SMR File).
