An Lios: This very ruined cashel lies at the foot of Moanlaur, about 150m from the N shore of Castlemaine Harbour. It is shown on the 2nd edition of the OS map as a semi-circular field, open to N. A field wall has recently been built across this latter side and the fence bounding the E half of the site has been removed. It appears that the semi-circular field fence respects the earlier cashel whose wall lies c. 3m inside it. Only the SW section of the cashel wall is traceable and even this has been reduced to a low, stony bank, c. 3.6m wide and up to .75m high. There are possible traces of 2 stone structures in the NW part of the modern enclosure but dense vegetation and disturbance by cattle prevent definite interpretation.
