What is recorded here

Internal diam. 16m. Situated on the lower N slopes of Knocknanacree, overlooking the narrow valley that extends W from Anascaul, this site consists of a circular area enclosed by a low bank, up to .8m high externally but only very slightly raised above the interior. An ill-defined central area is slightly raised above the remainder of the interior, possibly marking the location of a house platform, but there is also a possibility that this site should be interpreted as a ring-barrow and not a ringfort. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 280. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 6 August 2013
