What is recorded here

Situated on the lower slopes of Knockmulanane, this standing stone measures 2.7m in height, 2.1m in width at base tapering irregularly to a pointed top, and .2m in thickness; ENE-WSW. Abutting the N face is a slab of similar width but only .65m in height; this may be an off-split from the larger stone. A single packing stone is visible on the S side. The 2nd edition of the OS map incorrectly shows a pair of stones at this location. However, on the 1st edition the pair of stones is correctly marked c. 100m to SW (KE044-022----). The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 93. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 3 August 2013
