What is recorded here

Beside a small S flowing stream on the lower slopes of Knockmulanane is a grass-covered mound measuring 7.8m N-S, 6.3m E-W and 2m high. At the W edge, facing the stream, is a horseshoe-shaped depression, 3.5m x 2.8m and .75m deep. Though no burnt stone is visible, the shape and siting of the mound suggest a fulacht fiadh. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 244. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 4 August 2013
