What is recorded here

This turf-covered, kidney-shaped mound is situated on marshy ground about 55m from the W bank of the Garfinny river; a dried-up stream bed can be seen nearby. The maximum dimension of the mound is 19m and its maximum height, at E, is .8m. The in-curving front of the mound faces WNW. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 246. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 4 August 2013
