What is recorded here

A wedge-shaped mound of earth and stones situated in the low-lying level land S of Smerwick Harbour. Dense vegetation prevents a close examination but the mound measures 14m NW-SE x 11.7m NE-SW, and the edge appears to be slightly raised above the interior. It is .6m in maximum height. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 222. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 4 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
