The monument was noted in 1986 by the Castleisland District Archaeological Survey as a levelled fulacht fia visible as a slight rise in a ploughed field (SMR file). According to the Castleisland Survey, the 'spread of burnt material (dims. 9m N-S x 6m E-W) was very obvious as a black stain against the normal soil colour. There was no indication of the possible location of the trough.'
