Field system in Ballymacthomas,coolnadead

'On top of a rise of limestone outcrop in an area which has been largely reclaimed, and neatly bisected by an N-S field boundary is a complex of low banks, mounds and hollows. The largest of these banks occurs to the east of the modern N-S field boundary and is c.75.0m in length. This bank has a maximum width of 6.00m and an average height of 0.35m. The bank is comprised of a mixture of earth and stone. On the western side of the field boundary are a number of interconnecting banks, the most prominent of which is a low earthen bank which runs in an E-W direction for 35.0m, terminating at the field fence. This bank is, on average 4.00m in width and has an average height of 0.30m. Adjoining this bank at its western terminus is another low earthen bank, also 0.30m in height, 5.00m in width, which runs in a N-S direction for 25.0m.'
