Fulacht fia in Clahane

'Located in a marshy field in the foothills of the Slieve Mish mountains are at least five s, with the possibility that about about a dozen more mounds which occur in the field, although less well defined, may also be sites of this type. The field in which they occur is very wet and in all likelihood is prone to flooding in winter. Only the five most obvious ones were recorded. All were distinctive grass-covered mounds, which contain burnt stone and blackened soil. A small stream, which is a tributary of the River Lee, defines the western boundary of the field in which these sites occur.........in the south west corner of the field is an almost circular mound with a trough area which opens to the south west. Total dimensions of the mound are10.0m N/S by 12.0m E/W and is 0.50m above external ground level. The trough area is now overgrown with reeds and measures 4.00m NE/SW by 3.00m NW/SE and is 0.35m below the top of the mound.'
