What is recorded here

This is one of five clearance cairns (KE035-073023-; KE035-073030-; KE035-073031-; KE035-073029-) described by Cuppage (1986, 26, 25 (w)) as follows; 'These 5 heaps of small stones, 3m x 2m x 0.35 to 0.5m high on average, are overlain by up to 0.3m of peat and may be field clearance cairns related to the pre-bog field system. One of the cairns has been heaped against a large boulder, a common practice even today. The locations of these cairns are shown on fig. 14 (ibid., 22-3)'.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
