What is recorded here

Exposed in the cliff-face about 250m N of Cloghane, on the W side of Brandon Bay, is a very small shell midden consisting of about 12 cockle shells in a dark soil. It is in very poor condition, but it is possible that what is now visible is the last remnant of a larger deposit. (information: A. McCarthy) The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 4. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 3 August 2013
