What is recorded here

Chatterton (1839, 168) noted a pagan altar on Brandon Hill but its precise location has not been identified. There is not sufficient evidence to warrant its classification as a megalit(h)ic tomb. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage (compiler) 'Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey.' Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne (1986), no. 41. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 28 May 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows only the centre of the wider government map area. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
