'A substantial amount of burnt stone and red burnt and scorched clay lies in the shallows of the river. Some of the clay lumps have been baked hard, almost into a pottery-like texture, and therefore must have been exposed to intense heat. This would therefore seem to represent the remains of a fulacht fiadh which has been bulldozed into the river at this point, probably at the same time as the above mound was created, during the same field clearing exercise.'
