'This feature took the form of a natural depression which contained a spread of burnt material – fire cracked stones, charcoal etc. – which was overlain by a series of charcoal stained clay, silt and marl deposits. The excavators suggest that the depression may have been the edge of a small pool or pond and that these clay.silt/marl deposits accumulated on the burnt material following its use. The burnt material extended over an area measuring 2.8m by 1.8m and was 0.30m in depth.' Description from ‘The Prehistoric Settlement of the Lee Valley, Tralee, Co.
