'From 1690 we have an account of a road that ran from 'Corke to Ardfert, via Eglish, Macroom, Balinary, Killarney, Aghadoe, and Trally' (Barrington 1999, 190). This linked up with a 'road shown by Smith running to Lixnaw, Listowel, Carrigafoyle, Tarbert and Limerick' (ibid.). The precise location of this road is not known.
