According to the landowner, a souterrain system was uncovered several years ago which has since been closed up. In 1969 John Deady inspected a souterrain at Ballysheen, Abbeydorney, but he gives an incorrect 6-inch map number and co-ordinates, so it is difficult to distinguish whether this the same one. In 1969, four of the chambers which ran in a WSW-ENE direction were accessible. The capstone of one of the chambers was removed to provide access. All the chambers were beehive shaped and constructed of drystone walling. (JKAHS, 5, 1972, 160-61)
