What is recorded here

The Kerry Field Club, which visited this area in 1944, located a shell midden near Rahoneen Castle (1014). They state that they 'only found fragments of bone and shells of sea fish'. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 5. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 1 August 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
