What is recorded here

Internal diameter 32.2m N-S, 35m E-W This sub-circular multivallate rath has been disturbed to the NW; a trackway runs along the NW through N to NE sectors, thus distorting the rath. The outermost bank is 1.8m above the surrounding land and 1.2m above the fosse. It is only preserved from the NE through E to SE and for a short distance to the W. The middle bank rises 2.1m above the outer fosse and 1.8m above the inner fosse. The inner area survives as a c 1.7m rise above the inner fosse. A possible entrance lies to the E and it ranges in width from 1.2m at the outermost bank to 1m at the inner bank. The maximum external diameter N-S is 68m and E-W 73m. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 638. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013
