What is recorded here

Internal diameter 43m N-S, 43m E-W This univallate rath is situated in a corner of a field. The fieldbank to the W and S is the townland boundary between this townland and Kiltomy. This site consists of a circular area enclosed by an earthen bank that has been much levelled and is very broken up by cattle. The enclosing bank is 6m wide at the base and rises to a maximum of 1.7m externally and 1.2m internally. The interior is at much the same level as the surrounding land. It has been completely ploughed up by cattle and was very waterlogged when visited. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 543. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013
