What is recorded here

Internal diameter could not be taken Marked on the 1841-42 OS map as a circular enclosure with 'cave' marked in the interior. On the 1916 edition it has been cut by fieldbanks and the E section is not marked in. Situated on a rise with an excellent view of the surrounding land, today this site has been almost completely levelled. All that survives of the enclosing stone bank is a section from the S to W. The bank is 4m wide and rises to .6m above the interior and 1.4m above the external ground level. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 823. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 3 August 2013
