What is recorded here

Internal diameter 26.6m N-S, 29m E-W Situated E of 'Lisnadarree' (Lios na Daraí, ringfort of the oak) (368), this univallate cahir consists of a sub-circular area enclosed by a low bank, which is fairly overgrown. The enclosing bank is 4m wide at the base and rises to 1m above the interior and 1.4m above the external ground level. An exterior fosse is barely distinguishable from the NE through E to SE, where it is 1.6m wide and .5m deep. The interior is at much the same level as the surrounding land and three breaks provide access, though the 3m wide gap to the SW would appear to be the main one. In the E sector of the interior is an oblong mound (KE009-042001-), 3.5m N-S, 1.6m E-W and .6m high. SW of this, at a distance of 11 m, is a smaller mound (KE009-042002-), 1.4m x 1.4m. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 809. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 3 August 2013
