Internal diameter 24m N-S, 26m E-W Situated on high ground, this site presents an excellent view of the surrounding countryside. This univallate ringfort consists of a sub-circular area enclosed by a well-defined bank and exterior fosse. The fosse has been deepened and the top of the bank made higher by modern drainage works. The enclosing earth and stone bank rises to a height of 2.6m externally and 1.2m above the interior. The width of the bank at the base measures c 5m on average. The enclosing fosse measures 1.3m wide and 1.2m deep. The interior is at a higher level than the surrounding land. To the NNE a gap of c 3m provides access to the interior. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 250. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 2 August 2013
