Tarmon Castle (site of). This castle belonged to the O'Connor Kerry clan, who had their chief residence at Carrigafoyle [KE002-045----], but erected two smaller castles at Asdee [KE002-063----] and Tarmons. John O'Connor established the Lordship of Tarbert for his second son, Dermot, and it is recorded that the 3rd Lord Tarbert lived here around 1550, so it is quite likely that the 1st and 2nd Lord Tarbert also resided here. No surface trace of the castle remains today. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
