Situated in marshy land sloping in a NW direction to the River Shannon, KE001-026---- has an extensive view of the river and the coast of Clare. Immediately S lies a ring-barrow (KE001-027----).
This univallate rath consists of a circular area enclosed by a well-defined bank and external fosse.
Contained within the interior are the possible remains of two house sites (KE001-026001- & KE001-026002-). The NE remains measure 3m x 9m externally, while the structure immediately SW measures 5.5m x 9m externally. To the NW of the latter there is an L-shaped rise. These structures are all composed of earth and stone.
