Marked 'Dermot and Grania's Bed' on the 1841-42 and 1914-15 OS maps. On the earlier edition it appears as a circular enclosure (KE001-025----), whereas on the later edition it would appear to be marked as a depression. 'Situated in the T.Land of Kilconly South. A small fort at the brink of the River Shannon. Deermud was one of the Irish Champions called Feenthin. This is not a Cromlech but a mere hollow in the cliff so called.' (O'Donoghue, OSNB, 123).
